Hispanic Outlook magazine ranks San Jacinto College among nation’s top 10

PASADENA, Texas — San Jacinto College ranks sixth in the nation for associate degrees granted to Hispanics student on The Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine 2021-2022 Total Associate Degree Granted list. The College was also ranked eighth on the 4-Year Schools 2021-2022 Total Enrollment list and second on the 2021-2022 School by Major list for Science Technologies/Technicians.

San Jacinto College had 25,570 Hispanic students enrolled for the 2021-2022 academic year, giving the College a 61% Hispanic population. The College also had 3,341, or 58%, degrees awarded to Hispanic students in 2021-2022.

“San Jacinto College serves a very diverse student population and community, and it is our goal to ensure as many of our students as possible meet their education goals,” said Dr. Laurel Williamson, San Jacinto College deputy chancellor and College president. “Every person at San Jacinto works hard to support our students from entry to completion, and being noted on this list proves that we are serving our students well. It shows our commitment to student success in re-training, career achievement, and transfer.”

San Jacinto College is a federally designated Hispanic Serving Institution as defined by the U.S. Department of Education. An HSI must have a full-time equivalent undergraduate enrollment of at least 25 percent Hispanic origin at the end of the award year.
