PASADENA, Texas — The San Jacinto College Bachelor of Applied Technology with an emphasis in cybersecurity program has been granted full accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
This accreditation marks a significant milestone for San Jacinto College, reaffirming its dedication to delivering exceptional education and preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. SACSCOC's rigorous evaluation process has recognized the program's adherence to the highest standards of academic excellence, ensuring that students receive a top-tier education.

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Technology program gain expertise in safeguarding computer networks. They learn about subjects such as cryptography, ethical hacking, and the ethical and legal dimensions of technology. This program builds on foundational learning from associate degrees and certificates in information technology and cybersecurity.
Those who work in the field can earn a livable wage to support themselves and their families. According to Texas Wages, information security analysts in the Gulf Coast region make a salary of $110,512 and computer network support specialists, make $64,551.
In developing the Bachelor of Applied Technology in Cybersecurity, San Jacinto College engaged with IT leaders and industry representatives to ensure the program equips graduates with both technical proficiency and academic rigor. This preparation not only positions students for successful careers but also for further academic pursuits in related fields.
The launch of this program comes at a crucial time when the demand for cybersecurity professionals is growing rapidly. There are currently more than three million unfilled cybersecurity jobs globally and the industry has a 35% projected employment growth through 2031. As organizations increasingly invest in advanced cybersecurity solutions, San Jacinto College stands ready to meet industry demands and contribute to the expanding workforce.
