Here at San Jacinto College, our people are your people. We have Student Success Centers (SSC) staffed with tutors to help you achieve your academic goals. We offer free tutoring to all registered San Jacinto College students on a variety of subjects all year long. Come and take advantage of what we have to offer!

Study Resources

We offer textbooks for the subjects that are being tutored, free computer usage for academic purposes, skills workshops, TSIA prep sessions, Supplemental Instruction, and English as a Second Language (ESL) and English Language Learners (ELL) support.

A Focused Study Environment  

The SSC is a great place to study and work with tutors and other students. Join us! Study rooms are also available if you need a place to study.

On-Campus Tutoring

Generation Park Campus

Visit the Generation Park Campus Student Success Center in the Academic Building, Rm 105. 

Central Campus

Visit the Central Campus Student Success Center on the 1st floor of the Lee Davis Library.

North Campus

Join our team of tutors and support your fellow students. Here's how to apply:

  1. Complete the San Jacinto College Tutor Employment Application.
  2. Provide written references from two instructors.
  3. Drop off the application and the references at the Student Success Center you're applying to.

FAQs

 

In order to make use of the SSC and any of its resources, you will need your student identification number or San Jacinto College ID card. The SSC is free for students who attend any San Jacinto College campus.

 

Follow these Steps:

  1. Access TutorTrac on your browser.
  2. Enter your “G” number in the “USER NAME” field.
  3. Enter your password in the "Password" field. It is the same as your SOS account.
  4. Select “Visit History” on the left panel and click the “Print” option.

 

Login to TutorTrac. View your upcoming appointments. At the time of your appointment, a Zoom link will appear. Click “Enter Zoom Appointment.” 
 
If you do not have a Zoom account, follow these instructions to create a free Zoom account.

 

Tips for successful tutoring sessions:

  • Get started early on coursework and ask questions.
  • Have your materials and documents ready to share with your tutor.
  • Reduce distractions.
  • Know that the tutor does not replace your professor and does not have access to your courses.
  • Be patient and stay engaged.
  • Keep the work going after your sessions.
