PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College's LyondellBasell Center for Petrochemical, Energy, & Technology has partnered with ATR Inc., to deliver cutting-edge training and education for students and industry professionals through access to state-of-the-art tools and training resources needed in the petrochemical and energy sectors.

ATR Smart Procedures

ATR’s donation includes a five-year annual license for its SmartProcedures® software—a cutting-edge digital platform that revolutionizes procedure management. SmartProcedures® simplifies the entire lifecycle of procedure management, from importing Microsoft Word documents to creating structured, user-friendly formats accessible on any device. This premier Digital Lifecycle Management system brings expertise specific to procedure digitization, change/approval, storage & training and use on mobile devices. By automating manual formatting and document control, the software provides a secure, efficient solution for industries such as oil and gas, chemical refining, pharmaceuticals, and power generation.

“This collaboration with ATR significantly enhances our ability to prepare students and incumbent operators with the tools and expertise required in the petrochemical and energy industries,” said Jim Griffin, CPET associate vice chancellor and senior vice president.

The partnership also includes start-up and digitization services, enabling CPET to convert paper-based procedures into digital formats. These enhancements will streamline accessibility and improve training programs for students and professionals alike. Industry leaders such as Chevron, Chevron Phillips, Eastman Chemical, ExxonMobil, Lubrizol, LyondellBasell, and Trecora Chemical already rely on this secure, efficient technology.

“Our partnership with CPET is about preparing the next generation and supporting current operators,” said Elliott Lander, ATR founder and managing director. “By integrating our tools into San Jacinto’s curriculum, students and incumbent workers can learn how to write, manage, and execute procedures safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.”

San Jacinto College students, whether enrolled in credit-based programs or incumbent worker training, will gain hands-on experience with SmartProcedures® Mobile. This real-world exposure enhances their understanding of industry standards and safety protocols, preparing them for the challenges of high-risk, highly regulated industries.

“Whether it’s day-to-day operations or annual tasks like winterizing equipment, having clear, precise instructions ensures safety and accuracy,” said Jay Culver, CPET incumbent workforce director. “This partnership gives our students access to tools that set the benchmark for industry standards.”

ATR’s history of supporting education and industry dates back to the 1990s, when the company donated training software to Gulf Coast colleges, including San Jacinto College. This renewed partnership builds on that legacy, providing modern tools to train future professionals and support current industry needs.
